This Privacy Policy explains how IndexTutors ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use indextutors.com (the "Site").

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address and profile photo provided through Firebase Authentication (Google sign‑in or email/password). We never see or store your password.
  • Profile information: details you choose to add, such as phone number, location (country, city, area), subjects, qualifications, rates and biography.
  • Content: tuition requests, applications, messages and reviews you submit.
  • Usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited and similar technical information collected through log files and cookies.

2. How we use information

  • To create and manage your account and show your public profile or tuition request.
  • To match students with tutors and enable messaging between users.
  • To keep the Site secure, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms.
  • To analyse and improve the Site, and to display advertising.

3. Cookies and advertising

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We also use third‑party services:

  • Google AdSense: Third‑party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info.
  • Google Analytics / Firebase: used to understand how visitors use the Site and to provide secure sign‑in.

We do not sell your personal information. Public profile details (such as a tutor's name, photo, subjects and city) are visible to visitors. Contact details are shared only when you choose to share them in messages. We may disclose information if required by law.

5. Data retention and your rights

You can edit or delete your profile information at any time from your dashboard, or ask us to delete your account by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase your data.

6. Children

Accounts for learners under 16 should be created and managed by a parent or guardian.
